RE: Vehicle (RV) Title question

IMO, I would first check the DMV Georgia on the internet and see if you can get your answer there. If not, find call the DMV nearest you (or may be an 800 #) and ask your questions. I know in FL a current license plate has to be on the RV, whether driven or not. Might be cheaper to renew plate for RV in SD. I understand a driver's license and vehicle (toad) tag need to done in the state you are working in. Hope any of this helps.

RE: what's your garbage can?

In my current RV, the manufacturer has a special place for the trash can. That is really nice. In my previous motorhome, I had a small trash can with w/pop-up lid (from Wal-Mart.) Held a plastic grocery bag, and just kept it by the shower door. Thought I was the only one with a trash can by the shower door! :) The pail is a great idea.. need 2 uses for every item in the RV.. that'll work!

RE: sliding 5th wheel hitch

Our slider works just fine and the jaws close around the kingpin. I certainly would not want to use the slider to "move" from one site to another, just for manuvering in/out of a campsite. Me thinks someone didn't know how to use the slider correctly, if he lost the trailer twice!

RE: cold weather camping

We just returned from Branson, MO. It did get a tad cold for us Floridians! Lots of propane? If freeze is expected, put some water in the fresh water tank and take off the water hose. It got down to about 29-30 while we were there. Used an electric heater to supplement the propane furnace. We are in a fiver this time, but have had a motorhome in KY and it got down to 23 there. I also cover tires (but I do that here at home, too.) I also dump a gallon of pink antifreeze in each tank, don't know how much good it does, but it makes me feel better. Have a great trip...

RE: Atlanta

I generally drive straight through on I-75 (not the By-Pass) and try to do it during the day or weekend. Have done both by-passes and found going straight through is easier for me.

RE: Potential 5th Wheel owner

All of the above! (Including wearing the hard hat!) Just made a trip to Branson, MO and back towing a Montana with a 2500HD Chev. Stability, stability, stability!

RE: Heading out in the monring!!!

Have a great, safe trip. We just returned from Branson. Was out 28 days. Christmas lights are out and the Trail of Lights is very pretty. It got down to 27 while we were there. Managed just fine.

RE: US 65 from Little Rock, AR to Natchez, MS

Thanks to all for the info. Hopefully there will not be a tornado when we are going through... Feel much better about taking that route, now...

US 65 from Little Rock, AR to Natchez, MS

Can anyone familiar with this highway please tell me what type of highway to expect? Good, rough, mostly 2 lane, mostly 4 lane? I will towing a 33' fifth-wheel. Thanks.

RE: Recommendation for notched tailgate for Dodge

Gee, probably need one for the same reason I should put one on my truck? :)

RE: One More

We are leaving Saturday, heading for Branson. Hope to see a Christmas Show. Will turn a 2 week trip into a 4 week trip! Towing our new fiver, so this will be an experience. Maybe by the time we get back, I will have learned how to back it into a site? Hope you have a great time!

RE: Guns and RVs

I sent for that book, something called Firearms and 50 states. Boy, what an eye opener. Motorhomes tend to fall into a different category than trailers from what we have been advised. From all I have read, I would NEVER cross into Mexico or Canada with a firearm. Have never been asked in a State Park and have not stayed in a National Park. Great subject for discussion around a campfire. Would venture to say, most "carry." Guess the New England states are pretty rough on firearms and a big no-no in Washington D.C., unless their proposed rule went through.

RE: Compact Washer

I purchased a compact washer (and separate compact dryer.) If I remember the washer is 24" square and front loader, made by Maytag. In my fifth-wheel I have a place for a washer/dryer, ready for installation. I am thinking one day, this washer will come into the fiver. It weighs about 75 lbs and has a stainless steel tub. Great little washer.

RE: hitch hittin the bed rail

The first time I took my new fifth-wheel out and tried to back it up into the site, I used the slider hitch and it moved the pin box back and hit the top of the tailgate. Did quite a number on that. After I posted my "oops", someone answered that it could even hit the sides of the truck bed. So, now I have to watch the sides of the bed, the tailgate, hope it don't hit the rear window of the cab, try not make to sharp of turns backing it in... and haven't used the slider hitch again! I do have about 4" clearance, so that helps the problem you are having. Would try to get the hitch and kingpin box adjusted, by a RV dealership. Wishing you good luck with it.

RE: Entrance door lock

I called a locksmith on mine. He could not fix it and suggested I call the dealership for a new lock as unit was under warranty. I was not able to get the fiver to the dealer at that time. Dealer shipped me a new lock, locksmith installed it, but I am sure it would be a DIY project for a handyperson.

RE: Lazy Days,Seffner,Fl.to close it's doors?

Went by there a couple of weeks ago. Rally Park was almost empty, but lots and lots of inventory on hand for Lazy Days. Sure hope the rumor is not true. Would be another big loss for the area and most of all the employees. Bill Heard Chev. about 12 miles east of LD just closed its doors.

RE: New Heartland ? & towing w/F250 ?

I don't understand if you have the pinweight of the fiver and the payload of the truck is more than the pinweight, why the calculations? I understand the GVWR and GCWR, but not the 20-25% calculation. I have a 33' Montana and a Chev 2500HD, so just wonder why I read a lot about the pinweight. Thanks.

RE: broken window

I'd try the dealership where you bought the CC if local. Otherwise I would call a glass company. Don't understand the no glass coverage. Think I would talk to the manager of the ins. company before just giving in. Hope this incident doesn't delay any trips for you.
